Established in 1980 and recognised by The Kennel Club in 1981 the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of South Wales (WSSCSW) serves a wide membership not only based in South Wales but breed enthusiasts world-wide.

A warm Welsh welcome awaits everyone attending the Club’s Breed Shows where our complimentary Welsh cakes are always a firm favourite.
We are keen and dedicated to promote and uphold the integrity and dual purpose aspect of the Welsh Springer and we hold various working events and training sessions as well as two Open Shows and two Championship Shows annually (held in March and September).
With the glorious Welsh scenery on our doorstep we are spoilt for choice for our increasingly popular seasonal walks and social get-togethers – and to prove we’re a friendly bunch of folk there’s always a group photo (see below. These walks give members and Welshie owners the opportunity to meet with like minded people and compare notes about this lovely breed – whether they are interested in showing, working or simply socialising.
The Club’s committee has a wealth of experience and cover activities such as Breed Assessment Days, Judge Mentoring, Breed Health, Rescue and rehoming and we are always open to suggestions from members about other  activities to get involved with.
We support an active working section and were granted a licence by the Royal Kennel Club to run annual field trials, currently we are the only WSS club to hold such a licence. We organise training days (again the group photo is obligatory, see right) and between 2022 and 2025 we held four very successful minor breeds field trials at Stubton in Leicestershire. We urge anyone who is interested in training their dogs to work in the field to contact our Working Secretary, Jane Sutherland for more information.
The club produces a Newsletter which features articles of interest, reports and results of activities and events – this, together with our website and Facebook pages ensures that our membership is kept well informed. Please contact us by email if you would like to receive our latest edition.
Welsh Springer Spaniel owners and enthusiasts everywhere are welcome to join us on any of our activities – please visit the website for details, download a membership form or email welshspringerspaniel.csw@gmail.com
